First off, if you haven’t seen this animation (Which given the low number of views it has even tho it deserves so many more) I truly and humbly recommend that you do. Short animations of this caliber, quality and beauty are hard to come by. Especially one that has left such an effect on myself.

I came across this beautiful short film as a recommendation on my youtube feed. I tend to like watching short student made movies and the minute that I watched the thumbnail I was intrigued to see whether or not it would live up to the expectation. What I got is a simple yet beautifully told story, not through words, but through the expressions and body language of the characters, animated incredibly well and a serene background music make for an experience that is quite surreal, to a point where I consider it almost ethereal. The movie is a production by the ChungKang Animation School (South Korea) and the description reads “yltyl, a timid girl with a torn wing. In front of such Tyltyl, a girl in the same boat, Mytyl, appears.”

Perhaps from that you might get an idea where this is going, and you’d be right. Still, I recommend watching this beautifully crafted vision of rising artists. It is, in essence, the possibility of what we as creators are able to envision and make. A simple, yet beautiful tale that touches the heart and soul while showing the power of the animation medium.

Animation is not a genre, it IS a medium. And projects as beautiful as this just prove what these medium can do to provide an experience that can’t be replicated by real people. Live action has its own strength, don’t get me wrong. However, this ethereal beauty that animation provides cannot be replicated by any camera lense.

Ill leave the link below to watch it when you have the time. If you love animation as much as I do, you’ll really appreciate this.
